Birth FAQ

A newborn session is very special and is a great time to capture images of your bundle of joy during the first week or so of your baby’s life. They change and grow so quickly and it’s easy to forget how small they were and how tiny their fingers, toes, and newborn features were. These images will preserve these precious memories for generations to come. Some questions you may have are answered below.

When should newborn photos be taken?
Newborn photos should ideally be taken between 4 and 10 days after birth. The first few days baby might be a little fussy adjusting to new surroundings and be a little more swollen and/or bruised. Older than 10 days and babies are often a little more alert and may not fall asleep during a session.

What style of newborn photos do you take?
As with maternity photos there are two options for this. One is the more posed options with props, cute hats and other items and the other is what I call newborn lifestyle photos. These photos involve the whole family in their home, their daily interactions with a newborn, and captures posed and candid images.  Your preference will be discussed at a consultation upon booking.
