It’s been quite some time since I’ve written a blog post (since July 22nd to be precise) so I am long overdue for one now, which means it’s back to the future for me!
It’s been a whirlwind from July until now with lots of changes for my family. We celebrated my youngest daughter’s first birthday in September. We also decided early in September to sell our home in Hamilton and move ourselves (and my studio) to Burlington. A little over a week after making this decision our house was ready to sell and on the market. It sold within days, leaving us with a little over a month to find a new place to live. We moved into our new home in Burlington on November 1st.
Oh! I forgot to mention that a few days BEFORE listing our home we found out I was expecting our third child so on top of listing, finding a new home, and moving, I had morning sickness to contend with. Luckily my children were very patient with me and my husband was very gracious in picking up the ample slack around the house and with all the unpacking we had to do.
Autumn flew by in a blur for us and December and Christmas preparations were upon us before we knew it. As luck would have it though, we all were sick the weeks before Christmas but we were very fortunate to be in good health over Christmas itself. Just before New Year’s Eve we all came down sick again but this time with a never ending stomach bug that made it’s way through all of us. We finally recovered from that when I came down with a sinus and chest infection. Fun times all around!
This brings us to the present and the future; we are all more or less healthy again, unpacked, settled in to our new home, my studio space has been coming together, I have many beautiful new props and wools, wraps, and rompers just waiting for some squishy wee newborns and their first portrait sessions.
I recently applied to volunteer with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. Being able to give the gift of precious memories to grieving families is just a small way I can offer them comfort in their time of sorrow.
On Monday I photographed my first birth-what an amazing experience and such an honour! I have definitely discovered a new passion in birth photography.
This weekend I have the honour of photographing another wedding and look forward to what the day brings and being part of such a special beginning with such a lovely bride and groom.
There are many things happening and it is certainly a very busy and exciting time!
Stay tuned for my next blog posts and have a beautiful day!
